I always feel blessed beyond measure when I get to work with people who share a deep love for each other, for other people and especially for God. There’s just something about love in all its tenderness and vulnerability that shows up on pictures, taking shape as beautiful moments captured forever. It was my great honor to document the wedding celebration of two people whom I love dearly and whom I can proudly call family too. Their personality – wild, free and spontaneous with a little bit of boho and a lot of hippie – is tangible in these pictures. Their celebration of love consisted of a whole weekend of festivities, starting with a braai at the hotel where they and most of their guests were staying. Being a natural light photographer, I didn’t want to use flash on the Friday night (and some parts of Saturday night as well), in an effort to capture what it felt like to be there, gathered around a fire with close friends and family.
I can attest to God’s presence and blessing on this day. It rained, a blessing to the earth and a drought stricken province, and a blessing on the day – but during the outdoor ceremony it stopped completely, only to once again let down in bucket-loads after all the formalities and pictures outside was taken.
Nicole and Ruan – my prayer for you is that God will continue to strengthen your love for each other, as He strengthens your love for Him. The journey you are now embarking on is one that can hold huge amounts of joy if you work on your relationship continuously and hold onto each other and your Saviour, through good times and especially through tough times. I pray that your life together will be blessed with love and that the fruit of that love will be a blessing to many others!
I am overjoyed with how these pictures turned out and I want to give all the glory to God, who upheld me and gave me strength and creative vision to be able to see and capture moments to the best of my ability. I hope you enjoy this gallery – go grab a cup of coffee and feel free to use the embedded tunes in this post as background music while scrolling away. I’ve been listening to a playlist that had these songs while editing the pictures and it just feels like it belongs together and adds to the atmosphere of the festivities.
